CIC Seeks Nominees for Defender of the Flag Award

Special award to be presented during Defend America Challenge

 ANNAPOLIS, MD (November 13, 2006) Chesapeake Innovation Center (CIC), Anne Arundel County's high-tech business incubator, is seeking nominations to honor a deserving American who has gone above and beyond the call of duty in helping to defend and protect our homeland.

Anyone can be nominated. It can be a national or local law enforcement, military, government or business official – any person who has acted to defend or serve America with professional service, unwavering patriotism, integrity, effectiveness, ability or creativity to actively safeguard American lives and our way of life.

“We want to recognize and honor an individual who understands how innovation can lead to increased homeland and national security, and who has demonstrated their commitment to both,” says CIC Executive Director Laura Neuman . “All of our companies have an application in homeland or national security and they are passionate about safeguarding our nation. We want to honor an individual who has provides a great example of why that is so important.

The winner will be honored among the nation's leading high tech innovators dedicated to protecting America 's security during the CIC Defend America Challenge, to be held January 19 th , 2007 at Loew's Hotel in Annapolis , Maryland .

The Defender of the Flag Award is part of CIC's exciting Defend America Challenge , a competition with a top award of $50,000. The competition is open to any company with a product or service specializing in the homeland or national security field. Submissions are being accepted until November 15.
